Sterling Filigree Yad

Since it is forbidden to touch the Torah Scrolls with your hand, you follow the text with a pointer, called a Yad. "Yad" means "hand" in Hebrew, and the pointer usually is in the shape of a hand with a pointing index finger. Since the Bar Mitzvah is the first time a boy stands in front of the Torah it is very appropriate to give a “Yad” as a meaningful Bar Mitzvah gift that will have a special place in a man’s life forever.

This piece is crafted of intricate filigree work that is characteristic of ancient Yemenite silversmithing.
